Visual Arts
In our visual arts program at Incarnation, our students begin learning about the creative process from the first time they step into our art room. We encourage, nurture and challenge our children to utilize and expand their imaginations and to confidently express their individuality. The masterpieces that their small hands create continue to amaze us everyday.
Our classes introduce all students to a limitless range of art mediums and opportunities. From pastels, collage, and acrylic painting, to clay, paper mache and sculpture, art class is always an inviting, fun, sometimes messy, and enjoyable environment. Students attend regularly scheduled art classes each week
Each project incorporates the learning of basic art and design principles, while allowing for individual expression of the concept at hand. Many activities are integrated with the core academic curriculum, which brings art into subjects such as science, socials studies and religion. Art history and vocabulary are intertwined everyday, helping students to bring together the different pieces of the puzzle that have helped to create the cultures of our world. Through the study of many different artists and periods of art, our children become well informed about the beauty, adventure and opportunities of the visual world around us.
