5th  GRADE  SUMMER  READING for 2009/2010

Read Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.

Write a summary (the main facts and idea) of each chapter and keep them in a folder to be turned in during the week of August 24th.  The summary should include at least one sentence giving your opinion of that chapter [for example, I felt sorry for Shiloh because           (tell why)          .  OR    I really liked the part when    (tell what happened).]  The outside of the folder should be have the title, SHILOH Summaries  and your name.

When you have finished reading the entire book, select one scene from the book that you really like and prepare a 3-dimensional diorama of that scene.  Be sure to neatly and clearly write your name and the number of the chapter the scene is from (for example, Chapter 5) on the outside of the diorama.

Your 5th Grade Language Art teacher will ask to see, or to collect the summaries and the diorama during the 2nd week of school.  DO NOT BRING THE SUMMARIES OR THE DIORAMA WITH YOU THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL.

Wishing you a WONDERFUL summer,
